Ziro is a beautiful hill station in Arunachal Pradesh. It draws tourists because of the scenic beauty of the town. The Ziro valley could be seen surrounded by pine trees. Ziro Putu

Ziro Putu is a popular hill situated at old Ziro. It offers a view of the Ziro town. The cantonment of the Indian Army was earlier located at Ziro Putu. The first administrative centre was set up at this place after Independence. It is also called Army Putu by the locals. The airport is also located at the base of the hillock, in the midst of scenic paddy field.

Meghna Cave Temple

This is a tourist spot in Ziro which definitely needs a visit due to its age-old ancestry. The cave temple dates back to as much as 5000 years; it was re-discovered in 1962. At a height of 300 feet, the temple location gives one a scenic view of the surrounding place. Dense forests, lush greenery and majestic mountains surround the area along with the beautiful river flowing below giving it a breath taking touch. Located 3 kms. away from Ziro, Pine Grove is a frequent destination in Ziro which tourists visit. It looks very beautiful with the pine trees extended all over the place. Locals and tourists both go to the place to have some green time for the pine trees create majestic scenery in the place.

Tipi Orchid Research Centre

Covering an area of 10 hectares of land, the Tipi Orchid research centre is located amidst the rain forest and the hills of Ziro. The centre houses as many as 1000 different species of orchids. Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary

Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is located at Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh. The sanctuary is located 30 km from Ziro town. It is one of the most important attractions of the Ziro town. The government of Arunachal Pradesh has declared it a wildlife sanctuary.

Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is a natural botanical garden. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 337 sq km. Talley is a plateau at an altitude of 2400 meters. The wildlife sanctuary is abundant in rich flora and fauna. There are dense forest of silver trees, ferns, bamboo and rhododendron. The sanctuary house many exotic orchids. The whole area is covered with pine trees. The area has one of the endangered species - the clouded leopard. It is also home to the Mithun (cross breed of wild gaur and buffalo), a shy type of animal. Talley camp is 30 km from Ziro.

Tourists can have ample scope of sightseeing in the sanctuary. The sanctuary’s exotic flora and fauna is the major attraction of the site. Fishing and hunting is banned in the sanctuary. Talley Valley Trekking is one of the important activities of tourists coming to Ziro. The area is nature’s paradise with abundant greenery. This is a totally radiant region with glacial terrain, alpine meadows and sub tropic rain forest region.

Talley Valley site is an ideal trekking place. Tourists from across the world come to the place to enjoy the biodiversity of the region. It is one of the important places of eco tourism. Shiva Linga Temple

The Shiva Linga temple at Ziro is one of the most important religious spots in the place. It is thronged by large number of devotees every day. Maha Shivaratri is the main festival celebrated in the temple. During Maha Shivaratri large number of tourists visit the place.

The Shiva Linga is located at the Sidheswar Nath temple in Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh. It is 4 kilometers away from Hapoli town. The Shiva Linga is considered to be one of the tallest in the world.

Structure of Shiva Linga

The Shiva Linga is 25 feet high and 22 feet in width. It was built in 2004. From the base of the lingam water flows constantly. It is said that Goddess Ganga lives with Shiva in the place. The temple also has idols of lord Ganesh and goddess Parvati.

Discovery of Shiva Linga

The lingam was discovered by a person of Nepali origin. It is said that once when the person was cutting a tree,it fell near a stone. Reaching the stone the person could identify it as not merely a stone and that it had religious significance. It is also said that the Shiva lingam in Ziro has been mentioned in the Shiva Purana also.

The Shiva Lingam is situated 4 km away from Hapoli town in Ziro. The nearest airport is Tezpur in Assam.

By Rail:
The nearest railway station to Ziro is North Lakhimpur in Assam.

By Road:
Ziro could be reached by bus or taxi from North Lakhimpur in Assam and Itanagar.
